Background

Dutch Bros is a coffee chain founded in 1992 by two brothers Dane and Travis Boersma. The coffee chain offers a variety of options such as coffee, energy drinks, sodas, snacks, and more. Dutch Bros has become popular because of its culture and drive-thru only option.

Problem

The Dutch Bros website has a poor navigation system, inconsistent elements, a lack of visual hierarchy and confusing icons.

Process

I was assigned with a group of 5 and we collaborated to find ways to improve the usability of the website. My team members and I created questionnaires, wrote documents on usability testing materials, user research, created 2 sets of user personas based on our findings and independently redesigned features on the website.

Results

I redesigned the home page by improving the navigation menu and footer, incorporated new colors in the color palette, added a search bar and a “Contact Us” page, and placed text next to the icons on the top right such as “Find a store” or ‘Cart (0).

Home Page

New redesign of the home page.

Menu Page

The redesign of the menu page. I added the featured seasonal drinks, filters on the full menu and organized the drink options.

Menu Page

The updated menu page has the drinks and "Add to Order” button in one page making it easier for users to achieve their end goal.

Contact Page

Incorporated a “Contact Us” page with an option for users to put in their details as well as adding a customer service email and number.
